Students cannot learn under the threat or fear of violence.  Because this is a public school, it is available to everyone who desires to learn.

The following guidelines are intended solely to create and maintain a safe and neutral school environmental where all students, teachers and school personnel are safe and free from physical and verbal/mental threats and harassment.

Note: Renaissance High School is a closed campus.  Students may not leave campus during school hours without permission and all visitors must check in at the school office.  Students who drive must lock their cars upon arrival and are not to go to their car before 1:15p.m. unless accompanied by a teacher or staff member.

DRESS:  Flagrant Display...

     1.  CLOTHING that is offensive, or CLOTHING, JEWERY OR BODY ADORNMENTS which overtly and flagrantly display gang related symbols  (i.e. flags, bandannas, letters tattoos, numbers 13 or 14, etc.) are prohibited on campus or at school functions (including new Entry orientation). Please refer to the Renaissance Dress Code.

Corrective Action: The violation will be documented with a "gang contract" (1st offense parent contact, 2nd offense suspension, 3rd offense dropped from RHS).  The offending item will be removed and stored in the office or parents will be called to pick up the item and exchange the item for school appropriate clothing.

               Penalties:  See gang contract

     2. CLOTHING, ACCESSORIES, OR DRAWINGS which display or suggest drug or alcohol symbols (such as marijuana leaf on shirt) are prohibited.

Corrective Action; Students will be asked to remove it, the item will be stored in the office until the parent picks it up and/or the parents bring change clothes/accessory.

Penalties:  If there have been previous warnings, students should be dropped one level, reprimanded and may be suspended for one or more days.  A parent conference may be required and student will be put on a behavior contract.

     3. INTIMIDATION BY COLORS:  Members of gangs, clubs, and/or non-school sponsored groups will not wear their colors in a "show of strength" that threatens and intimidates other students (large group of all one color).

Corrective Action; Item is kept in the office until parent pick-up or if it is a tattoo it will be covered up (each time the tattoo is shown or uncovered it will count as a subsequent gang contract violation).  Names of "intimidators" shall be logged by Principal or teacher, and the date.

Penalties: The violation will be documented with a "gang contract" (1st offense parent contact, 2nd offense suspension, 3rd offense dropped from RHS).  The offending item will be removed and stored in the office or parents will be called to pick up the item and exchange the item for school appropriate clothing.

The "view" margins are wacky and the edit page looks good. Why are they different. What is happening here??
